Hanuman Prarthana
🌺Hanuman Prayer – A Source of Strength, Devotion, and Protection🌺
The Hanuman Prayer is an extremely powerful and devotional hymn that glorifies the infinite greatness, strength, devotion, and compassion of Lord Hanuman. This sacred prayer not only bestows spiritual energy, but it is also believed to help individuals overcome life’s challenges, fears, negative energies, and mental distress. It serves as a protective shield and a source of divine strength in times of need.
📘 Shri Hanuman Shlokas 📘
I take refuge in Lord Hanuman,
Who is swift as the mind,
Who is as fast as the wind,
Who has complete control over his senses,
Who is the best among the wise,
Who is the son of the wind-god (Vayu),
The leader of the monkey army,
And the divine messenger of Lord Rama.
Meaning:
I surrender to Shri Hanuman, who possesses unmatched speed, wisdom, and strength — the son of Vayu, the chief among monkeys, and the trusted emissary of Lord Rama.
I bow to the brave son of Anjana,
Who removed the sorrow of Sita,
Who is the king of monkeys,
The destroyer of Akshayakumara,
And who struck fear into the demons of Lanka.
Meaning:
I pay homage to Hanuman — the mighty warrior born of Anjana, who ended Sita’s suffering, slew demon warriors like Akshayakumara, and brought terror to the evil forces of Lanka.
I bow to the son of the wind-god,
Who made the vast ocean seem as small as a calf’s hoofprint,
Who viewed mighty demons as mere mosquitoes,
And who is the shining gem of the grand epic Ramayana.
Meaning:
Hanuman’s divine power made the ocean appear tiny and the demons insignificant. He is the most brilliant jewel in the garland of the Ramayana.
Wherever the glories of Lord Rama are sung,
There Hanuman is present with folded hands and bowed head,
His eyes filled with tears of devotion.
Salutations to Maruti, the destroyer of demons.
Meaning:
Wherever Lord Rama’s name is chanted, Hanuman appears with deep devotion and reverence — his eyes wet with emotion, ever ready to serve. He is the annihilator of evil forces.
I bow to Hanuman,
Who assumes forms like monkey, lion-man, eagle, boar, and horse-faced deities,
Who is adorned with many ornaments,
Who has three and five eyes glowing with divine light,
Who holds in his hands: fierce weapons, sacred scriptures, a pot of nectar, the Kusha mountain, a plough,
A club, trees with snakes as vines, and many more,
Who has ten arms and removes the pride of all enemies.
Meaning:
Hanuman manifests in many powerful forms, bearing divine weapons and symbols. With ten mighty arms, he destroys ego and protects righteousness. He is a fierce warrior and a divine being of immense form.
I worship Lord Hanuman,
Who removes all misfortunes and grants auspiciousness,
Who has reddish-brown eyes and destroyed Akshayakumara,
Who was always eager to search for Sita,
Who shines brighter than millions of suns and moons,
Who brought terror to the island of Lanka,
Who blesses all beings, is respected by Sugriva,
Praised by Indra and all the gods,
And is the noble messenger of the Kakutstha (Rama) dynasty.
Meaning:
Hanuman is the remover of all evils, the source of good fortune. His light outshines the stars. He fearlessly entered Lanka in the search for Sita, earned the respect of the gods and Sugriva, and served Lord Rama as his most faithful emissary.
🙏 Hanuman Prayer 🙏
Intelligence, strength, fame, courage, fearlessness, and good health—alertness and eloquence—all these arise from devotion at Hanuman’s feet.
Salutations to Rama, along with Lakshmana, and to the divine daughter of King Janaka, Sita.
Salutations to Rudra (Shiva), Indra, Yama (the god of death), Vayu (wind god), the Moon, the Sun, and all celestial beings (Maruts).
Victorious is the supremely powerful Rama, and mighty is Lakshmana.
King Sugriva too is victorious, being protected by Rama of the Raghu clan.
I am a humble servant of Rama, the king of Kosala, who performs unerring deeds.
I am Hanuman, the son of the Wind God, destroyer of enemy armies.
Even a thousand Ravanas cannot stand against me in battle.
When I strike with rocks and trees in thousands.
After destroying the city of Lanka and bowing to Sita, I shall return successfully before the eyes of all the demons.
If Rama, son of Dasharatha, is righteous and true to his word, and unmatched in valor—then let his arrow slay Ravana.
To one who surrenders once, saying “I am yours,” I grant fearlessness from all beings—this is my solemn vow.
